After breakfast, a short transfer (10 ') to the starting point of the Apulian aqueduct path, the historic "hidden river" of Puglia, crosses unique and evocative environments characterized by Mediterranean scrub and typical conical constructions, the trulli. Precisely this stretch of the Apulian Aqueduct, that is, that which goes from Locorotondo to Alberobello and Putignano, we can well say, is among the most interesting from the point of view of landscape, nature, architecture and history. We will pass over the bridge of the Pirro Canal admiring, in addition to the panorama that allows you to wander towards the mountains of S. Lucia and Selva di Fasano, also numerous picturesque districts of the town of Locorotondo and wonderful groups of trulli. We will arrive in the delightful village of Locorotondo, inserted in the circuit "One of the most beautiful villages in Italy" and "orange flag" of the touring club. Visit of the pretty village and return by train to the hotel in Alberobello. Dinner and overnight in Alberobello.

After the morning dedicated to the visit of the caves, lunch and transfer to Matera. Arrival in Matera, check-in at the La Formica B & B. Following visit of the historic center of Matera, the city of the Sassi, Unesco heritage. During the visit there will be the opportunity to visit the complex of cisterns dug entirely in the rock for water supply, a rock church and a cave-house. Dinner with typical local dishes and overnight in Matera.
DAY 4. 27 OCTOBER: Gravina in Puglia
After breakfast, bus transfer to Gravina in Puglia. We will depart from the historic center for a trek that will see us walking in the rocky landscape of Gravina.
The Gravines, are a typical karst morphology of the Murgia: erosive incisions even deeper than 100 meters, very similar to the Canyons, dug by the meteoric waters in the calcareous rock. Even today, at the bottom of the Pugliese ravines, the torrents that have dug them flow, giving fabulous views to say the least. Over the centuries, the presence of watercourses and the intrinsic characteristics of the territory, have allowed the settlement of different populations, including religious, since the era of Byzantine domination, which on the one hand exploited them as houses and sanctuaries (the natural caves on their walls) and on the other as a natural defensive place. The ravine of Gravina in Puglia, is one of the most spectacular ravines of the area, characterized by an important rock habitat, it also represents a microenvironment inhabited by incredible and various faunistic and floral presences. Walking along the archaeological area of the Padreterno, at the foot of the hill of Botromagno. We will discover the beauty of the Madonna della Stella Aqueduct Bridge and many other testimonies of the past.
At the end of the hike you return to the historic center where you will have the opportunity to visit the "underground Gravina". Uncovered in 2005 by a group of speleologists, it will be possible to know in the meanders winding under the historical center of the city cuniculi, cellars, rock churches, granaries, seventeenth-century ovens. In this world, quite suggestive, you can see towers and remains of ancient city walls.
Nobody before had thought that there could be a "Gravina Sotterranea", equally suggestive and full of charm where time, almost enchanting, has stopped. Return by bus to Matera. Dinner and overnight.
Type of route: ring / Difficulty: E / Length of the route: 13 Km / Difference in altitude: 200m / Journey time: 5 hours

The itinerary will lead us to walk along a fascinating panoramic path, full of naturalistic views and amazing views on the Sassi, frescoes and rock churches and the inevitable grille falcons, symbols of the park.
